Wellow and Plaitford Cricket Club
Behaviour policy for junior members
Background
In recent months certain junior members have been behaving unacceptably. Faced with growing concern from the coaches and parents about the disruption to sessions, the reputation of the club and the safety of all members, the club has decided to introduce a behaviour policy.
The policy
If a junior member misbehaves, the coach or other adult helper will give a verbal warning. The offender will be asked to stop what they are doing and advised what will happen if they don’t comply.
Examples of
unacceptable behaviour could include:
Talking when quiet has
been requested
Continuing with
disruptive behaviour after being asked to stop
Refusal to follow instructions
or the rules of the game
Lack of respect for
other members or for the coaching venue
If the verbal warning is ignored a yellow card will be issued and the incident will be discussed with the parents. The member will then be under review for the remainder of the term.
If a second offence is committed on the same night or whilst under review, a red card will be issued and the offender will not be allowed to continue with the session. Parents will be advised as soon as possible and, if appropriate, asked to take their child home.
Certain offences will result in the immediate issue of a red card.
Examples could include:
Bullying
Verbal or physical
assault
Threatening or abusive
language or behaviour
After a red card or 2 yellows have been issued, the coach will discuss the situation with the chairman. The expulsion of the member may follow. Parents will be advised before the next coaching session.
The club believes this policy will help make the sessions fairer, safer and more enjoyable for all junior members.
Parents are asked to read this policy with their child, ask them to sign a copy, then return it to the Chairman or Jane Stokes.
