Dear parents,
I would like to introduce
myself as the welfare officer for the cricket club. My deputy is Mike Barcia
and we both have 2 children in the juniors.
My main brief is to ensure
that the club adheres to ECB policy on child protection.
I would, therefore, like to
draw your attention to the policy and, specifically, the sections of it which
are most relevant to parents and volunteers.
The policy can be found on
the ECB web site:
Click on ecb on the right
Choose child protection on
the left
Click on Safe Hands – Welfare
of Young People in cricket
In particular, please
note:
Section 3
Good Practice, Poor Practice and
Abuse
Section 6
Managing Young People Away From The
Club and
Appendix 1
Code of Conduct for Cricket Staff and Volunteers
Please ensure you have
completed and returned your child’s membership form and paid both coaching fees
and the annual membership fee. The form contains health information which must
be available to the coach at each session and, if you have not paid your fees,
your child is not insured and will not be able to participate.
We have recently introduced a
behaviour policy which applies to all junior members. Please ensure your child
understands this and returns a signed copy to me or the Chairman.
If you have any concerns
about welfare, please contact me.
I look forward to meeting you
and your child and I hope they enjoy their time with the club.
Thank you.
